Managing Cash Flow

There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise — but a foolish person swallows it up. The wise person accumulates reserves. Cash reserves are a wisdom indicator in Scripture.

The most common cause of business failure is not lack of revenue — it is poor cash flow management. A profitable business can still collapse if cash is not managed. The Kingdom business builds reserves — a wisdom hedge against the inevitable slow season and unexpected expense.

Joseph proposes a cash flow management strategy for Egypt — collect one-fifth of the harvest during seven years of abundance and store it for seven years of famine. The strategy saves Egypt and the surrounding nations.

Every business has feast and famine cycles. The Kingdom entrepreneur who manages cash with Joseph's discipline — setting aside reserves during abundance — survives the lean season while competitors who consumed their feast season collapse.

Jesus asks who among you wanting to build a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost. The financial planning question is a cash flow question — do you have enough to complete what you are starting?

The widow is in a cash flow crisis — creditors coming to take her sons. Elisha's miracle fills the containers she prepared and produces enough to pay the debt and live on the rest.

I prepare containers — financial systems and accounts — before the overflow arrives

The oil stopped when the widow ran out of containers — not when God ran out of oil. Your cash flow ceiling is often your container problem — not your revenue problem. Build the financial systems that can hold what God is about to pour.

Paul instructs believers to owe nothing to anyone except the ongoing debt of love. Pay what you owe, keep your accounts current. Financial integrity is a Kingdom standard.
