Sent Into the Marketplace

Devotional
You were not sent to church. You were sent to the world. John 20:21 is one of the most significant verses in the New Testament for the Kingdom businessman, as the Father has sent Me, I also send you. The same sending that commissioned Jesus into the earth is the sending that commissioned you into your marketplace. You are not a businessman who happens to be a Christian. You are an apostle, a sent one, who happens to operate in the marketplace. The word apostle literally means sent one. And the Great Commission of Matthew 28 makes it clear where you are sent, all the nations. Not all the churches. All the nations. Which means the bank, the boardroom, the tech startup, the real estate office, the construction company, the recording studio, these are all mission fields. These are the nations you have been sent to. Jesus did not tell His disciples to go build bigger churches. He told them to go make disciples, everywhere, in every nation, in every sphere of life. The marketplace is not a distraction from your calling. It is the location of it. You are a marketplace apostle. Go on mission.
Chayil Declaration
I am a sent one, an apostle in the marketplace. As the Father sent Jesus, Jesus sends me into my industry, my business, and my sphere of influence. The marketplace is my mission field and I go on assignment every day I walk through those doors.
Reflection Question
How would your approach to your business, your career, and your industry change if you genuinely saw yourself as an apostle sent on mission rather than just a professional trying to succeed?
